Shooting Day

Today was our first shooting and gladly we completed the filming in a day. We struggles in various ways, initially the location due to personal reasons. After the location, the actor, gladly out classmate Fahad Opel agreed with the challenge! During the shoot we had some complications with the lighting and struggled with direction throughout but we pulled it off somehow, thanks to our collective efforts.

It was extremely hectic but the shoot turned out to be rather amusing!

 Risk Assessments 

Before every work of a film, risk assessment is a necessary practice. 

We avoided every possible danger and action that might be harmful while writing up a script so we don't have much data for risk assessment, however, some things can be counted. 

First of all, the stairs were quite slippery especially because they were freshly mopped, so we waited for them to dry and even contacted the cleaners to delay their cleaning schedule for the day of our shooting. 

There was a scene in our film where the actor was supposed to light some candles, but because of the fact that mishandling the matches can possibly be dangerous, we decided to exclude that and use a lamp instead. 

The lamp had required us to plug it into the extension to start but putting the socket in on a working circuit holds the risk of electric shock. To prevent this, we ended up changing the lamp position a little, making a Switchboard available nearby. 

Originally, we intended for the actor to take off his shoes to emphasize his "relaxing" on the sofa, However, while running away it can be dangerous as the floor was made of marble, so we ended up having him keep his shoes on. 

When we decided on the scene where his way was blocked by the abnormality, he fell. As the floor was hard and might cause injury, we lined the floor with a cushioned rug. 

Character Profile

The type of character we want to depict in the film will be of an average 18 year old highschool student. An introvert who definitely does not enjoy visitors. He likes to be independent and favors spending time in his own thoughts rather in other people's company. He is into reading and writing and would prefer documentaries over horror movies. He is extremely dedicated towards his goals and following the "trends" definitely isn't a concept to him. He has a very limited friendship circle but he likes things just the way they are. Being successful and independent are his priorities. He is however, very timid.

We're having major issues with the selection of the actor. Since, we have to show a young male in our film, we don't personally know anyone who would be willing to take the role of a 'scared' male protagonist. After our short audition, one of my classmates Fahad Opel took the role.

 Shooting Equipment

Our shooting equipment includes smartphone camera using the installed application "Filmic Pro". Also, Nikon D5000 for a more refined shoot. With the use of this equipment and my teammate's talent, our film will turn out great!

 Cast

Our film doesn't require us to have more than one member in the cast. Since the protagonist is female, my teammate Yumna is chosen as the actress.

 Costume

Since our film starts with our protagonist on the bed asleep. We want our film universe verisimilitude, hence we're focusing on the little details as much as possible. Our costume is simple and casual exactly how night clothing is expected to be.
